Lou Dumont Blanc De Blancs Cremant De Bourgogne NV
Lou Dumont was founded by Japanese Koji Nakata and his Korean wife in Nuits-Saint-Georges of Burgundy, France in 2000, and has since moved to Gevrey-Chambertin. Nakata was originally a sommelier at a French restaurant in Japan. Because of his love for Bourgogne wines, he had the idea of making wine in Burgundy. Lou Dumont is actually a maison. Grapes are bought from other growers, and then fermented, matured, bottled and sold under Lou Dumont’s name. Although the vineyards producing the fruit do not belong to Nakata, most grape growers are willing to allow Nakata to enter their vineyards to harvest the grapes himself. This allows Nakata to better understand the ripeness and quality of the grapes and to sort the bunches.
