Founded in 1810, Schlumberger is one of the most trusted and esteemed names in Alsace. The family is the largest holder of Grand Cru vineyards in the region, with ownership in notable sites like Kessler, Kitterle, Saering, and Spiegel. The domaine spans 140 hectares across more than 5 kilometers on the southern slopes of the Vosges in Guebwiller. Located at altitudes between 250 and 380 meters, it enjoys a favorable climate that has earned this valley the nickname “Valley of Flowers.”
The slopes feature light sandy soil, a result of the gradual erosion of the underlying pink sandstone. With a south-east, south, and south-west exposure, the vineyards are perfectly positioned to receive ample sunlight. The vines are arranged in horizontally planted rows across five terraces, extending for 850 kilometers (570 miles) and are protected by dry-stone walls.
